Meek flower shop assistant Seymour pines for co-worker Audrey. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey's boyfriend, Orin, to the plant after Orin's accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.
Orin (Baritone - late 20s-early 40s?) A tall, dark, handsome dentist with a black leather jacket and cruel tendencies. He is not, however, a leftover from the movie version of Grease. Think instead of an egotistical pretty boy – all got up like a greaser but thinking like an insurance salesman and talking like a radio announcer. He makes a couple of briefs, but high-impact, appearances. A strong character actor and singer.
Orin, the sadomasochistic, Nitrous-Oxide-Fulled, bully. His chaotic and often irrational behaviour made him a thrilling character to play on the stage, his often-inflated ego and excessive character traits allowed me to play him to the most exaggerated extent. Finding a sick comedy, in the pain, he causes his victims, mixed with his animalistic behaviour made for a spectacle on the stage.
The Dentist was another (unsuspecting) supporting role with a solo and duet song. After, Little Shop of Horrors, I now feel I have the self-confidence that I can hold my own, in song on stage. The fast-passed, ordered chaos of Orin, gave me the flexibility to express my character how I chose fit whilst also allowing me the structure to convey the sentiment.
